Recruitment Policy

Shield of Azeroth Recruitment Policy

Interested in becoming a member of SoA? Here's a rundown of what you can expect.

SoA is not actively recruiting at this time. However, current members who feel strongly that someone should be considered for membership may sponsor, and start a thread in our membership forum for that person. At that point the applicant will receive posting rights to the Applicant forum and begin the application process as outlined below:

Preappliction period
One week or longer depending on your level of initiative.

  1. Visit our Applicant's forum and tell us a little about your online self (and your offline self if you are the sharing type). Be sure to include name, level, and class so we can find you in game.

  2. Once we're aware of your interest in joining, you should do your best to group with our guild members so that we can get to know you and so that you can find sponsors. Acquire two sponsors who are full members of SoA, have grouped with you, and believe that you will be a good addition to our guild. You should be able to turn to your sponsors for answers to any questions you may have about the guild or to be pointed to an officer who can assist you. Your sponsors should also be able to assist you in finding grouping/raiding opportunities with the guild.

Application Period
3 to 7 days (can be longer if you do not aggressively seek sponsorship and grouping opportunities).

  1. Interview with one of our recruiting officers. If they are not available for an extended period another guild officer may interview you. During the interview, we will be asking some questions to make sure you understand us and our goals and expectations as a guild. You will also have a chance to ask questions about Shield of Azeroth.

  2. If not already done by your sponsor, after the interview the recruiting officers will post on our member forum a thread with your name to give all members of the guild a chance to comment on your application. Searching out SoA members, grouping with them, and making a good impression will make this part of the process go smoothly as it will increase the likelihood of positive responses in your thread.

  3. After a number of days, the recruiting officers will review the comments and make a decision on whether to offer you membership, or continue the member comment period longer to allow more feedback.

  4. Receive your guild tag! This will be done after the interview and after all steps of the application process have been completed. The recruiting officers may use their own discretion to deviate from this process whenever they believe it to be in the best interest of the guild.

Initiate Period
(30 Days)

Initiates are tagged members of the guild, have access to all the guild private forums except the membership forum, and have all rights to loot on raids as full members. Initiates are not allowed to sponsor new members. Your member comment thread that was started during the application process will stay active this entire time.

If during the initiate period any significant problems arise, this will be discussed with the initiate so that corrective measures can be taken, and the initiate period may be extended beyond 30 days. In very rare cases, an initiate can be asked to leave if a majority of officers feel the initiate's presence is a detriment to the guild as a whole.

After 30 days full membership is given.

-----

Please be active during the application process. We expect applicants to demonstrate personal initiative. So take time to introduce yourself to Shield of Azeroth members and ask to join groups.

Good Luck and hope to see you in guild chat soon!
